Leadership Development Talent - Managing Your Internal Pipeline

Labor Day holds that invisible tie to the end of summer (even though my kids returned to school in mid-August).  It’s a ‘summer’s over, bring on the final push for the year’ mentality, and I love the energy it brings.  We have seen an increase in calls in the last week from clients looking to fill contract HR positions and from HR professionals looking for new assignments where they can leverage their skills while maintaining the flexibility and balance they seek.

The ISHR Group was interviewed for an article in last month’s HR Executive Magazine.  In the article, entitled “Feeding the Pipeline,” Julie Cook Ramirez wrote that most companies stopped seriously investing in leadership development about a generation ago.  She continued to write that these same companies tended to lay off many of the HR experts who had been involved in developing future leaders.  This has led to a significant skill gap in the profession that persists to this day.
